Spiritual Mentor Training:
Each year, I try to take a small group of Legacy Shepherding people through a three session Spiritual Mentoring Training program. This year, I took five guys through the training on the first three Saturday mornings in November.
I get very excited about leading people through this material. In this training, I share some helpful things I’ve learned over the years of doing this, as well as give some powerful tools that I’ve found useful in speeding the growth process up considerably. What used to take a year to accomplish in someone’s life can sometimes happen in one session! This training is designed to cast Jesus’ vision for disciple-making and help equip capable men and women to do the same with others, in loving and emotionally healthy ways. Spiritual mentoring hopefully helps remove any blocks and barriers that prevent a person from experiencing deeper intimacy with God, more fully embracing their identity as a beloved child of God, and more effectively living out their unique redemptive purpose and design in the world.
I’d love your prayers for the people I’ve taken through this training: (1) that the information would impact them for a lifetime, (2) that they would catch the vision of discipleship in new ways, and (3) that they would put this information into practice in loving ways. None of this is of much value if we don’t live it and put it into practice.
Ministry Community:
I spent part of this year going on a journey with seven other people with the hope of forming a “missional community” that would minister to college students at our church. Turns out, we didn’t end up fitting the “missional” part enough to be classified as a missional community. We ended up more of a “ministry community”; but who knows, maybe we’ll become more missional over time, if we continue. It was great meeting regularly with these people. Our time together encouraged me and helped open me up to some new possibilities God might have for me.
I’m not sure where this is leading, if anywhere, but it has ignited my heart for college students more. We’ll see what God does with that. He seems to be up to something. I’m just not sure what yet. I want to join Him in whatever He may be doing, if He wants me to. Please pray for discernment and wisdom on my part.
Thanks:
I still feel called to this kingdom work. It has its challenges, but seeing God do miraculous work in the lives of people (and in the lives of the people they impact) is a wonderful payoff.
This is the last post of the year. If you haven’t already, would you be willing to partner with me by making a contribution for this year or by making an on-going commitment to support this ministry? Contributions are tax deductible and life changing. Thanks!
Merry Christmas!
Randy
