Who is Allison Barton?
“I was born and raised in an amazing Christian family who always supported me in all facets of my life. Having experienced healthy relationships throughout my twenty nine years of life has left me feeling beyond lucky.
“In 6th grade I asked Jesus into my heart.
“I went to the Dominican Republic on two mission trips with my family in high school and was involved in the youth group. I attended Azusa Pacific University, a Christian liberal arts college, where I was able to volunteer each Thanksgiving break, leading the women’s’ prison team in Ensenada Mexico. I sought a career in Art Therapy and now have my master’s degree, allowing me to join my two passions – people and art.
“With all this being said, I would have told you that God was number one in my life, family number two… and so on. Looking back now, I can see that I didn’t live that out completely.
Allison Loves God (Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit):
“I experienced Transformation and a complete surrender to Christ three years ago.
This happened once I had hit my ‘rock bottom’ after the relationship I was in at the time fell apart.
I realized, through that, that I was doing an awful job of controlling my life on my own. I needed someone bigger than me to take the reins. I needed help. I turned to God and He ran to me like the story of the Prodigal Son. That is when I surrendered to His provision over my life. I’ve never looked back.
Allison Loves Her Mama:
“Last year was my precious Mama’s last year of life. Her two year fight with cancer had finally come to an end.
“She was my favorite person. She was my very best friend.
“Her last few years of life taught me so much. Her death pointed me toward eternity in a way I had not understood prior.
“That ‘fire’ that I had to go through refined me. God was so intimately present in that situation.
“He gave me an overwhelming peace about where my mom rests now. I will see her again and we will be in the presence of Christ for all eternity.
“Sometimes I am SO eager to get there, but then I remember this: my work here is not yet complete. I have the opportunity to expand the Kingdom of God and point others toward Him. What an honor! That is what fuels me each day.
Allison Loves Her Family:
Allison Loves Kyle:
“I recently got engaged! Coincidentally, my fiancé (Kyle) had been meeting with Randy before I had known either of them.
[Note: They call themselves Kyllison! The first Legacy Shepherding marriage is coming in August!]
“The themes of the books I am reading have been aligning with my faith walk through this new chapter of life!
“My fiancé and I have been experiencing a relationship with Christ at our center. This has blessed us both as we look forward to forever with each other.
Allison Loves This Guy Too – his name is Tyson:
Allison Loves Her High School Girls – She has faithfully led them, as their small group leader, from freshman year through senior year:
Allison Loves Journaling Creatively – she has over a hundred such entries:
Allison Loves Hockey – both playing and watching:
[Note: She also likes kickboxing, Cross Fit, and Tough Mudders!]
Allison Loves Community and her Small Group of Women – In the time I’ve known her, she has continually been pouring into other women:
Allsion Loves Art Therapy and Kingdom Work – she recently got licensed!:
“As an art therapist, I get to see Christ in each person I come into contact with. The importance of each client I have points me closer to the Lord because I understand that Jesus loved people. He didn’t judge, ignore, or hate anyone.
“I get to experience the vulnerability of individuals and families as they reveal their pain and flaws to me, seeking help. I am honored to be used through my career path for the Kingdom’s cause.
“My hope is that each person who has a secret, a fear, a flaw, or something to share, will have a person to speak to about it. We can’t ‘do’ life alone, I know I can’t.
Allison Loves Having A Mentor:
“My mentorship with Randy has supported me through each of these seasons God has had me in for the past year and a half.
“Books we have read together have revealed themes of transformation, surrender, and ‘floating’ on God’s love, which have been imperative for my faith journey.
“Having a mentor to pray for me, listen to me, and pour into my life has been crucial.” – Allison Barton
