When God’s Plans Aren’t Our Plans:
There has been a recent wave of young people I meet with who have been struggling with infertility issues or miscarriages in their marriages.
It is heart-breaking for couples who deeply desire to raise a family (and who would be great parents, in my opinion) not to be able to have children. It’s an extra sting when they see people all around them getting pregnant easily and having healthy babies carried to full-term.
It raises so many difficult questions: Is there something wrong with me? If God wanted to, He could do something about this, so why doesn’t He? Is God punishing me? How do I trust God and His goodness when my circumstances don’t align with what I desire, expect and define as good – when God’s plans aren’t my plans?
So often these young folks have had to listen to people saying insensitive things in an attempt to make them feel better (or more likely, to make themselves feel better). Imagine hearing these things after you just lost your baby or after years of not being able to conceive. Things like: It’s better you lost the baby now than later. You’ll get pregnant; you just need to relax. You’re still young; there’s plenty of time to have children. Trust me, you’re lucky you don’t have kids! It’s so easy for me to get pregnant; my husband just looks at me and I get pregnant! You can always adopt or get a dog. It’s for the best.
Video:
A few weeks ago, Mission Church in Roselle showed a video during their church service of a young couple struggling with not being able to get pregnant. It’s such a beautiful video, I want to include it in my update. Maybe it will help some people who are dealing with a similar struggle.
This video is of Dan and Grace. I meet with Dan and have highlighted him in a previous update. This is their story and how they are dealing with their season of infertility.
“This story is a hard one to tell, because we’re still in the middle of it. What we’re learning is that peace doesn’t come from a change in circumstance, but it comes from a new kind of trust.” – Grace
Thank You:
Thanks for your prayer support. Please pray for the young couples who are wrestling with these painful issues. May they be drawn deeper into the loving arms of Jesus and not pushed further away. May they experience deeper intimacy and intimate union with God to depths they have never before experienced. May they somehow receive the desires of their hearts, even if how they receive them doesn’t look the way they always pictured. And may they know that God is for them and with them through it all.
In His Love,
Randy
What a beautiful couple! And what a powerful story you tell! God’s hand is upon you. It always was, and always will be. No matter what the outcome. Blessings of love to you, Dan and Grace.
Unfortunately my wife and I are dealing with this subject right now. God is good and we trust in him!
