2008 – Randy was leading my internship small group at Willow Creek when I first started in the winter of 2007. I didn’t know anyone in my group, so I was a little apprehensive, especially about the idea of opening up to a bunch of people that I just met.
Randy had a gentle strength about him that drew me in immediately and began to make me feel at home. His intentional questions, as well as his truthful, yet loving responses made me feel truly loved immediately.
Randy helped me to really engage my story in a deeper, more meaningful way that I had ever done before, and God began to meet me in powerful ways through those times. I felt safe to engage my story and invite the Spirit into those hurting, broken places in my life through Randy’s coaching.
This deep, formational change that was occurring inside of me naturally overflowed into my ministry.
I desired to see this type of transformational change occur in the lives of others within my ministry.
I was learning to minister in truth and love in a perfect balance that embraced both without neglecting either. Raising my own self-awareness has caused me to go deeper in all aspects of my life, which continues to affect my ministry as I live out of what God is doing in my life..
