Randy’s May, 2012 Update:
Check Out the New Look!
The Updates have a new look! Yeah! Someone hacked into my blog this past month. Boo! Why anyone would want to get into my blog is beyond me. Thankfully my web host contained the compromise and notified me. Then Brian at Steck Insights Web Design quickly secured my site and gave it an updated look. I would highly recommend Brian. He was a real hero, super helpful and fast, a true man of integrity and love. Thanks so much Brian!
The First Baptisms at Mission Church:
Joe, one of the guys I meet with, recently got baptized! He got baptized along side his lovely wife, Teresa. Yeah, Joe and Teresa! They were the very first people to be baptized at Mission Church, the new church founded by some Legacy Shepherding Ministry alums.
A total of nineteen people were baptized that morning at Mission Church.
Jon Peacock, the lead pastor at Mission Church, tells me that this church plant dream wouldn’t have become a reality, in part, without what God did through the investment Legacy Shepherding Ministries, Inc. made in him. So indirectly, we are seeing some of the fruit of our prayers and labors through the amazing things God is doing through these young leaders.
One woman who got baptized that morning was a woman who lived in the neighborhood near the middle school where the church meets on Sunday mornings. She had been out walking her dog one Sunday morning when she heard the music from the service. Mysteriously, she felt drawn to investigate. She began attending regularly…
How cool is that? The church is truly living out their mission in the community.
Hmmm, now that she’s in church on Sunday mornings, I wonder when her dog gets walked. The poor thing.
Vacation In Phoenix and Tucson:
I had a much needed five day vacation in AZ. I hadn’t been on a real vacation in years. Man, did it feel good!
In Phoenix, I visited my good friends, Jamie & Kristi Wagner and their family.
We hiked, went to the Phoenix Art Museum, and caught up on life.
In Tucson, my friend Kristin Sauer and I visited our mutual friend Howard Cooper.
We hiked numerous times, salsa danced on a mountain under the stars, visited the Desert Museum (which is like a botanical garden and zoo combined), went up Mount Lemon, ate a lot, talked, and enjoyed the wonderful warm weather.
Part of the fun for me was attempting to take artsy photos. I’m not sure I succeeded, but here are some: (I’m blaming the imperfections on not having a great camera…though Picasa 3 really helped them pop.)
Now I’m refreshed and ready to get back to work.
Thank You:
Thanks for your prayers. They do make a difference.
In His Love,
Randy
